After Alibaba Group Chairman Jack Ma visited Argentina, he went to Mexico and had a long talk with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto for more than an hour.
Jack Ma, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alibaba Group, came to Mexico during his trip to Latin America. He had an in-depth conversation for more than an hour with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto at the Mexican Presidential Palace. Jack Ma promotes globalization and calls for the development of the Internet and support for small and medium-sized enterprises and young people. He believes that these are important elements that help market development, strengthen trade flows, and promote cultural exchanges. Alibaba will cooperate with the country's One Belt, One Road strategy and accelerate its long-term layout in Mexico and other Latin American regions.
Mexico hopes to expand sales market
Jack Ma said: "Globalization is not about globalizing Alibaba's business, it is about globalizing e-commerce." He said that for a long time in the past, globalization only benefited a small number of developed countries and large companies, while the Internet and e-commerce have benefited developing countries, small and medium-sized enterprises, and young people. E-commerce is for most people. The globalization of e-commerce will help local small and medium-sized enterprises expand their markets, improve their technology, and provide more local employment opportunities.
Nieto said that he fully agrees with Jack Ma's view that globalization will not stop, but globalization needs to be more inclusive. Mexico is very much looking forward to using Alibaba's platform to help Mexican small and medium-sized enterprises, helping them with marketing, promotion, and training, so that they can keep up with the development of the Internet, so that Mexican products can reach more parts of the world. Nieto said that 80% of Mexico's goods are exported to the United States, and he also hopes to sell more to Asian markets.
Jack Ma said that investing in every place is a consideration in the next 10 years, and Alibaba will accelerate its long-term layout in Mexico and other Latin American regions.
E-commerce globalization brings inclusive benefits
Jack Ma said that globalization is the first factor in Alibaba's development process. In conjunction with the country's One Belt, One Road strategy, it will accelerate its long-term layout in Mexico and other Latin American regions. "When we invest in any place, we don't think about it in one to two years, but in the next 10 years." He continued that globalization is not about globalizing Alibaba's business, but about globalizing e-commerce. In the process of globalization in Latin America, we will promote e-commerce, inclusive finance and Chinese logistics companies to enter the Latin American market. Help Latin American small and medium-sized enterprises and young people conduct cross-border trade.
The benefits of strengthening cross-border trade are not limited to the economic level. Jack Ma said: "Opening up the Latin American market is not about how much money can be made here, but we hope that through our efforts, we can circulate trade and allow cultural exchanges." It is reported that Alibaba has made good business progress in Latin America before. Its AliExpress is very popular in countries such as Brazil and Peru, and its B2B business has millions of registered users in Mexico and Argentina. Products from many Latin American countries are entering the Chinese market through Tmall.
Prior to this trip, Alibaba Group and the Argentine government signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in Buenos Aires. Jack Ma attended to witness and met with Argentine President Mauricio Macri. Later, he participated in a speech titled "Jack Ma in Argentina" organized by the Argentine government.
